PTA grants One month for mobile registration. On Wednesday the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) approved an additional one-month period for mobile registration due to ongoing preventive measures for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In view of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and to ensure social distance, an additional 30 days has been given to all GSMA eligible app IMEIs seen on mobile networks but not currently registered with PTA to register their mobile devices, raising the total time period needed for registration from 60 days to 90 days.

The decision was made to provide the public with immediate easiness and facilitation. The blocking of these mobile devices will begin as per their due dates from 19 April 2020 and will be communicated via SMS.
All mobile devices linked to local networks using local SIM are subject to registration within 60 days from the first use of the app on local mobile networks in Pakistan, as per the regulations.
However, due to exceptional circumstances, blocking of unregistered device IMEIs, which were to be blocked between March 18th and April 18th, 2020, will now start from April 19th as per each device’s due date.

PTA introduced a DIRBS (Device Identification Registration Blocking System). The program is intended to ensure a stable environment for mobile devices in Pakistan through the use of legal apps on mobile networks.
PTA has established three mechanisms for mobile device registration: via the website (https:/dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs), by dialing * 8484 # or by visiting the franchise/service centers of mobile operators across Pakistan.
